In certain cases the quantity of the bone is not enough to place the implant. In such cases the thickness of the bone is increasable using certain surgical procedures. After ossification this area can be securely implanted.

As soon as an adult tooth is removed,your jaw bone will begin deteriorating immediately unless you have the tooth replaced with an implant.The bone acts like  a muscle if it is not used it will deteriorate. Missing teeth over a period of time,can cause your jawbone to atrophy.This often results in poor quality and quantity suitable for the placement of dental implant. That’s why replacing your missing teeth soon is so important.

Many types of materials are available for bone graft, including: your own bone, human or animal bone, and synthetic materials.

Procedure of bone graft

In most cases a local anesthetic is used to numb the augmented area just like before a tooth filling. Using anesthesia the surgery will be painless. There are several types of bone graft; we discuss them in details before the surgery. All of them essentially means that the bone graft will ossify in 3-8 months, so the area can be implanted  securely.

How long does it take to recover?

Generally the patients are totally painless after 1 or 2 weeks. After this you won’t experience anything, but the complete ossification of the area needs 3-8 months
